A dramatic attack occurred this morning in Goma.
The Italian ambassador, Luca Attanasio, lost his life due to the wounds right after the attack.
His driver, a Carabiniere (Italian Armed Forces) also died during the attack.
Our local sources from Virunga National Park are helping to reconstruct the dynamics of this terrible event. The motivation for this ambush is yet to clear and some insiders claim that there could be a third victim in the following hours.
It is clear that the convoy was attacked after planning.
The entire convoy was organized within the framework of the MONUSCO mission (Mission de l’Organisation des Nations unies pour la stabilisation en République démocratique du Congo) .
