Since the 1986 nuclear plant failure in Chernobyl, Ukraine, many years have passed. The radiation emergency which dramatically struck the world over 30 years ago seemed to be only a sad memory but, unfortunately, memories are made to come back someday. During the last week, many papers and news feeds have shared the surprising and concerning information related to a new radiation spill from reactor 4 in Chernobyl.
The situation is still not very clear but the fear of a second nuclear disaster is becoming reality and, day by day, the concern within the country is rising.
The possibility of a new dramatic Chernobyl radiation emergency scenario is originating from the plant since, a few days ago, local nuclear engineers have measured unpredicted levels of radioactivity coming from the core of reactor 4. The majestic sarcophagus covering the former structure of the nuclear plant is now starting to crack under the internal pressure of the new radioactive spill.
The nuclear security authorities from Kiev are currently researching the origin of this sudden twist in the local scenario. The world remains in a state of surprised observation in front of this amazing, yet frightening event. The ghost of the Chernobyl radiation emergency scenario can only remind us of the atrocities of human mistake and do not leave us whit positive or optimistic feelings.
