Christopher Sherwood UFO Emails: Records and Context

A source guide to the Christopher Sherwood UAP email packages, their case numbers and the limits of interpreting public-affairs correspondence.

Christopher Sherwood’s Pentagon UFO emails are a documentary record of public-affairs correspondence about UAP. The useful starting point is the actual release package and its response letter, not unattributed quotations.

Correction, 7 October 2026: The previous version included unsupported email excerpts, career details and a 2,400-page claim. Those passages have been removed. This guide identifies the published collection and explains how to assess it.

Which records are available?

The Black Vault’s release page, published 23 April 2026 and updated 17 June, links packages 20-F-0163 and 20-F-0164. It lists 418 and 480 PDF pages respectively. Its summary reports 416 responsive pages for the first request; responsive-record counts and total package pages need not be identical.

The request concerned emails to or from Sherwood, including copies, containing specified UAP-related terms. The release includes redactions and a reported appeal. A second batch was added in June; the release page notes that its initial overview does not analyse that batch.

How to read the correspondence

  1. Open the package from the source page and start with the agency response.
  2. Record the case number, email date, sender, recipient and PDF page.
  3. Read complete threads. A forwarded message, draft or quotation is not necessarily the sender’s own finding.
  4. Check attachments separately and label missing or redacted material.
  5. Distinguish a spokesperson’s description from a technical investigation’s conclusion.

What the release does not establish

A keyword-based collection is bounded by the request and the search performed. It is not automatically a complete history of UAP policy. Publication of an email also does not independently validate every assertion in it. Claims about extraterrestrial technology require evidence beyond the presence of the term UAP in correspondence.
